Goma Serena
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Duration: 9 months – year 2020 and 2021
Material: ceramic tiles and glass tiles
Technique: Mosaic Art
Size: 21.75m 2
This was commissioned by the Goma Serena Hotels in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
We created a green leafy mosaic foliage at the main restaurant buffet area. It depicts the flora and fauna found in the Congo rainforest. We created an art piece of Mt.Nyiragongo volcanic lava in molten movement at the entrance of the Nyiragongo nightclub in the hotel.
We used bold colored ceramic tiles in red and oranges combined with chipped black stone slates with mirrors and silver glitters. These were installed as
picture hangings ascending in size as an abstract series.
Finally, we installed another handmade mosaic artwork in the coffee area with colorful glass tiles. That had a wide variety of color mosaic palate; reds, greens, browns, whites, golds, and many other glass mosaic colors to create coffee bushes, with their berries.
We were honored to be part of this project working under the guidance of Studio 62 Interiors Ltd, who were the consulting interior designers for the esteemed hotel.
